The daily usage of Pokemon Go surpassed that of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/?lang=en\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotinder.com\/\">Tinder<\/a><\/strong>. And\u00a0the value of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendo.com\/\">Nintend\u043e<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>went up by\u00a09 billion. What kind of game can reach those kinds of monstrous results\u00a0for a week? Maybe a game that has\u00a0<strong>brilliant marketing<\/strong> behind it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>So &#8230; what can we learn from the success of\u00a0Pokemon Go\u00a0and the masterminds behind it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>I.\u00a0Emotion is everything<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The creators of the game stirred up the\u00a0<strong>nostalgia of the grown up kids<\/strong>!\u00a0Do you remember the times when we used to watch the adventures of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pokemon.wikia.com\/wiki\/Ash's_Pikachu\">Pikachu\u00a0and Ash<\/a><\/strong><b>?<\/b> Or how we used to collect pokemon cards from<b>\u00a0<\/b>croissant packages?<b> <\/b>The pokemons were our friends and part of our everyday life &#8211; the kids in us were\u00a0attached to them. This\u00a0feeling alone is a major part of Pokemon Go&#8217;s success. Nintendo simply capitalized on our nostalgia and sent the grown up kids <strong>after their<\/strong> <strong>childhood dreams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Another aspect of the emotion is the game itself and the thrill it gives to the &#8220;hunters&#8221;! The more little monsters you catch, the more you get ahead and this emotion is valuable for any person &#8211; we all love to be good at something. The game made us <strong>&#8220;constantly aware&#8221;<\/strong> no matter where we are. The thought that there are pokemons lurking just around the corner\u00a0made us play all the time. And the fact that all &#8220;hunter&#8221; shared their results and <strong>progress<\/strong> on social media made the psychological effect of the game even greater.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>II.\u00a0Wave of expectation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The PR and marketing people at Pokemon Go did a terrific job promoting the game. At that &#8230; without a gigantic advertising budget! How on earth? <strong>Social media<\/strong>!\u00a0Nintendo gave a <strong>pre-launch version<\/strong> to gamers from Australia, the States and Japan so they can\u00a0test the game and share their first impressions. As a result social media exploded with opinions, recommendations and tips and \u00a0discussions about the upcoming craze starter stirring up.<\/p>\n<p>We live in a time when<strong> social testimony<\/strong> and personal recommendation are everything and they are\u00a0very evident on social media! We would hardly buy or even try something if someone else hasn&#8217;t already reviewed it. Nintendo&#8217;s product definitely had supporters way\u00a0before its official launch.<\/p>\n<p>Pokemon Go is certainly not the first reality game but it is<strong> revolutionary for the video game industry<\/strong> simply because you can play it from the device that never leaves your side &#8211; your smartphone. This is\u00a0a\u00a0great benefit &#8211; who would pass on the opportunity to be among the first to try something revolutionary?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>III. Exclusivity\u00a0&#8211; &#8220;You&#8217;re part of something special!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the main tactics in the game is that certain pokemons can only be found in <strong>certain areas of\u00a0the city<\/strong>. Playing Pokemon Go was like a coffee shot &#8211; it awoke our competitiveness and the thrill of the unknown. This exclusivity created a <strong>positive emotion<\/strong> for Nintendo&#8217;s customers and in marketing that is all that really matters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>IV.\u00a0Usefulness<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the most unique features of Pokemon Go is that it challenges people to be <strong>physically active<\/strong>. It makes the &#8220;hunters&#8221;\u00a0get up, go\u00a0out and move. The <strong>brand<\/strong> can really sell anything because a very big group of people have\u00a0already attached themselves emotionally to it and have become loyal to its products and services.
